Welcome to the Elk Grove Rain Garden Plaza, May 2012
Earlier this month I laid eyes on a beautiful thing. The City of Elk Grove cut the ribbon on the much anticipated Rain Garden Plaza that I’d been hearing about for so very long. OK, I admit it. I’ve grown so skeptical of my local government that I really hadn’t thought about this new park until I saw it for myself.
And what a surprise! A demonstration garden of best water practices for the Sacramento area. In my own backyard. ‘Most comprehensive rain garden in the region’ is how the fact sheet bills it. Uhm, yah. All the stuff I preach to clients (and other poor souls who don’t really care to hear it ad nauseum but are too polite to escape) in wordy industry concepts of sustainable landscape education. Now I can shut up and show.
See it, touch it, smell it, hear it.
Professionally designed & installed.
Really cool signage.
A detailed & experiential teaching tool.
I’m so proud! Nice job Elk Grove. We actually got this one right.
